Waymo Picks Singapore as Its Next Robotaxi Market, Targeting 2028 Launch

Waymo has set its sights on Singapore as the company’s next robotaxi destination outside the United States, with a commercial service planned for 2028. The Alphabet-backed autonomous driving firm said its vehicles will start showing up in the city-state within the next few months, kicking off a multi-stage rollout.

Before paying riders ever step in, Waymo plans a methodical preparation phase. Mapping work and autonomous testing with human safety drivers on board are scheduled for 2027, laying the groundwork for driverless operations the following year. That cautious, testing-first approach mirrors how the company has entered new cities domestically.

Singapore marks another step in Waymo’s broader push into overseas markets as it looks to prove its technology travels well beyond American roads.
