TVS Motor has stepped into India’s electric two-wheeler arena with the Orbiter V1, a scooter that starts at ₹49,999 and leans on an unusual ownership formula: buyers can subscribe to the battery instead of purchasing it outright.

The approach lowers the showroom sticker while turning the energy pack into a recurring monthly cost. TVS positions the arrangement as a way to make the switch to electric riding easier on the wallet, letting customers avoid paying the full battery price up front.

By splitting the vehicle and its power source into separate transactions, the company follows a model already tested by other Indian EV players. The Orbiter V1 arrives as competition in the country’s electric scooter segment keeps intensifying, with established manufacturers and newer entrants all chasing the same commuter audience.
