Tesla Upgrades Model 3 Range and Power, Adds 16-Inch Display Across US Lineup

Tesla has refreshed its Model 3 for the North American market, handing every trim a larger 16-inch central touchscreen in place of the previous 15.4-inch panel. The change covers the US, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, and arrived just one day after the same hardware swap landed on Chinese-market cars. Even the entry-level rear-wheel-drive Model 3, which starts at $36,990, now carries the bigger display.
Beyond the screen, Tesla focused its updates on the two dual-motor variants. The Model 3 Performance adds a black headliner and sees its EPA-estimated range climb from 309 to 316 miles, while peak output is now listed at 528 horsepower — up from the 510 hp figure quoted when the car arrived in 2024. Its 0-60 mph sprint remains 2.9 seconds. The more dramatic gain belongs to the Premium AWD, which drops from 4.2 seconds to 3.8 seconds on the same benchmark while delivering 346 miles of range.
Pricing is unchanged across the board: the Premium RWD sits at 47,490, and the Performance at $54,990. Tesla has not explained the source of the added power and range, nor whether existing owners will receive any of it. The new light gray interior offered in China is also absent from the US configurator, where buyers still pick between black and black-and-white themes, and the black headliner remains exclusive to the Performance trim.
Two notable gaps persist. Vehicle-to-load capability, which lets Chinese Model 3s output 2.2 kW of AC power through an adapter, is still missing from the US Model 3 — Tesla restricted that feature to the Model Y Premium, Model Y Performance, and Cybertruck in August. Canada is also left out of this round of changes, despite sourcing its Model 3 from the same Shanghai factory that builds the Chinese cars updated a day earlier.
