Tesla Roadster 2027: A Big Bet on a Big Maybe

Tesla’s long-awaited second-generation Roadster remains one of the most anticipated vehicles in the company’s lineup, even though it has yet to reach production. The original Roadster, launched in 2008, proved that electric cars could be fast and desirable, and it helped establish Tesla as a serious automaker. The new model was first unveiled in prototype form in 2017, with a promise of jaw-dropping acceleration and a sub-two-second 0-60 mph time.

Nearly a decade later, the Roadster still has not entered production, and Tesla has repeatedly shifted timelines. Reports and analyst commentary continue to speculate about whether the model will finally arrive by 2027, but Tesla has not confirmed a firm launch date. That uncertainty makes any wager on the Roadster’s arrival more of a gamble than a certainty.
