Tesla Quietly Upgrades Model 3 in China With Bigger Screen and New Interior Option

Tesla has rolled out a set of understated updates to its Model 3 in China, swapping the sedan’s 15.4-inch center display for a 16-inch unit across every trim level. According to the company’s announcement on Weibo, the larger panel brings sharper resolution and a faster refresh rate, aimed at improving how the car handles maps, media and in-car gaming. Prices, notably, have not moved.
Buyers can also now spec a light gray premium cabin paired with a black fabric headliner. The lineup retains its existing price structure, with the base Rear-Wheel Drive variant starting at 235,500 yuan, the Long Range RWD at 259,500 yuan, and the Long Range AWD and Performance AWD versions at 285,500 yuan and 339,500 yuan respectively.
Beyond the Model 3, Tesla extended a practical new feature across its China lineup: every Model 3 and Model Y currently on sale can now supply external AC power of up to 2.2 kW. Using it requires a separate Tesla adapter — the Model Y L being the one exception — and the function is pitched at campers and outdoor users who want to run appliances off the car’s battery.
Tesla is simultaneously carrying forward a promotion first flagged in late September. Customers who place a Model 3 order by October 31 and take delivery under their order terms get a 5,000 yuan reduction on their final payment, while the RWD and two Long Range versions also qualify for an 8,000 yuan insurance subsidy — bringing the effective starting figure down to 222,500 yuan. Interest-free financing for up to five years, an 8,000 yuan paint allowance and a selection of three charging perks round out the incentives. The timing may matter: Model 3 deliveries in China rebounded to 20,787 units in August, a 17.18 percent year-on-year gain and the nameplate’s best month of 2026, yet cumulative volume for the first eight months sat at 89,320 units, down 25.26 percent from a year earlier.
