Tesla Puts Cybercab on Display in China — But Not for Sale

Tesla is rolling out its Cybercab for Chinese audiences this week, giving the public a close look at the autonomous two-seater. At the same time, the company is making one point unmistakably clear: this exhibition is not the opening move of a sales campaign in the country.
According to Tesla China, the event carries no commercial intent — the Cybercab will not be offered to Chinese buyers, and no driverless ride-hailing operation is being introduced alongside it. That restraint stands out in a market where homegrown robotaxi companies are already running paid, large-scale services.
So while visitors can inspect the vehicle up close, the display remains just that: a display. Tesla appears to be gauging interest and showcasing its autonomous vision without committing to either a retail launch or a commercial robotaxi rollout in China for now.
