Swiss Retailer OTTO’S Switches Entire Truck Fleet to Mercedes-Benz eActros 600

Swiss retail chain OTTO’S is electrifying its complete truck fleet, placing an order for 22 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks. These vehicles will handle deliveries to the company’s more than 140 branches across Switzerland, marking a full transition to electric drive for its logistics operations.
The eActros 600 is Mercedes-Benz’s long-haul electric truck, designed for heavy-duty transport with a range suitable for regional distribution. OTTO’S will charge the trucks using solar power generated from its own rooftop installations, creating a direct link between renewable energy production and fleet operation.
This move reflects a growing trend among retailers to reduce carbon emissions from their supply chains. By converting its entire fleet, OTTO’S eliminates tailpipe emissions from its delivery network, cutting both its carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels. The use of self-generated solar energy further strengthens the environmental case.
The order also signals confidence in the eActros 600’s capability to meet the demands of daily retail logistics. While the exact timeline for the rollout was not specified, the commitment covers all 22 trucks, indicating a comprehensive rather than incremental shift.
For Mercedes-Benz, the deal adds another fleet customer for its electric flagship truck, reinforcing its position in the zero-emission commercial vehicle market. As more companies follow suit, the eActros 600 is becoming a common sight in European logistics, supported by expanding charging infrastructure and corporate sustainability targets.
