Stellantis Taps Wayve to Bring Hands-Free Driving to Fiat, Maserati and Jeep

Stellantis is turning to Wayve for the software that will underpin hands-free driving capabilities across its sprawling brand portfolio. The automaker intends to use Wayve’s technology as a shared foundation, meaning the same core system could eventually appear in everything from a compact Fiat to a luxury Maserati or a rugged Jeep.
The move reflects a growing trend among legacy automakers to partner with specialized autonomous-driving firms rather than build every piece of the stack in-house. By standardizing on a single supplier, Stellantis aims to streamline development and roll out advanced driver assistance features more quickly across its many marques.
The two companies plan to demonstrate the hands-free technology in vehicles from both Fiat and Maserati, signaling that the system is intended to scale from affordable city cars to high-end performance models. Exact timing, model names and market availability have not been disclosed.
For Stellantis, the collaboration is part of a broader effort to modernize its lineup and keep pace with rivals investing heavily in automation and software-defined vehicles. Whether the partnership will extend beyond the initial demonstrations remains to be seen.
