Solaris Secures Order for 20 Urbino 18 Electric Buses in Szczecin

Polish bus manufacturer Solaris has landed a contract to supply 20 Urbino 18 electric buses to the city of Szczecin. The order adds to the growing number of battery-powered vehicles entering service in Polish urban transport networks, as municipalities increasingly turn to procurement as a tool for cutting emissions.

The Urbino 18 is an articulated model, designed to handle high-capacity routes where passenger numbers put conventional single-deck buses under pressure. By choosing electric articulated buses, Szczecin signals that zero-emission technology is being applied to the busiest parts of its network, not just quieter routes.

The deal reflects a broader pattern across Poland, where local authorities are using fleet renewal programmes to accelerate the shift away from diesel. For Solaris, the order reinforces its position in a domestic market that has become one of the more active arenas for electric bus deployment in Europe.
