Siemens Canada to Build Digital Process Twin for Rock Tech's Ontario Lithium Converter

Rock Tech Lithium has brought Siemens Canada on board to create a virtual replica of its planned Red Rock Lithium Converter in Ontario. Under newly signed agreements, Siemens will construct a physics-based digital process twin of the facility — a plant designed to churn out as much as 32,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent annually.

The digital twin is meant to give Rock Tech a sandbox where design decisions, energy consumption, material flows, emissions and operational reliability can all be stress-tested before heavy capital spending begins. Rock Tech says the model will follow the project from its definitive feasibility study (DFS) all the way through engineering, construction and into day-to-day operations.

Siemens Canada’s role also extends to advising on process control, instrumentation and automation architecture during the DFS, which kicked off in late June 2026 and is slated for completion by mid-December 2026. The arrangement marks the first concrete step under a memorandum of understanding the two firms signed in March 2026.

Rock Tech wants the Red Rock Converter to serve as a template for similar plants across Canada and allied markets, and the partners will look at whether the collaboration can travel to future projects in other G7 nations. On the feedstock side, Rock Tech can draw on its wholly owned Georgia Lake Project, and in July 2026 it picked up an option to acquire the Victory lithium exploration property in Northwestern Ontario.
