Segway Upgrades MUXI Cargo E-Bike: Auto Shifting, Regen Braking, 28 MPH

Segway has refreshed its compact MUXI utility e-bike with a more substantial set of upgrades than a typical model-year tweak. The new MUXI Pro steps up to a Class 3 top speed of 28 mph, a meaningful bump for riders who use a cargo bike for quick urban errands rather than leisurely cruising. Alongside the extra speed, Segway has added front suspension to smooth out rough pavement and curbs that small-wheeled utility bikes tend to feel.

The headline tech addition is automatic electronic shifting, which takes gear changes out of the rider’s hands and lets the bike adapt as speed and terrain shift. Segway also brings regenerative braking to the MUXI Pro, a feature that is still relatively uncommon in the e-bike world and can help recover some energy during stops and descents.

Together, the changes push the MUXI line further from a simple compact runabout toward a genuinely capable cargo platform. Segway has not yet shared full pricing or availability details, so those specifics remain to be confirmed.
