Pushing the Limits: Our Supercharged Lexus GS 430 Project Reaches Its First Real Test

After months of methodical work, our long-term project 2001 Lexus GS 430 has finally reached a crucial milestone. The car now wears a Range Rover sourced TVS1900 supercharger, a conversion that required careful custom fabrication to mount the unit atop the stock 3UZ V8. This week, we finished up the remaining small details: securing hoses, rechecking the belt tension, and ensuring all wiring is neatly tucked away before loading a custom tune onto the factory ECU.

With the mechanical bits in place, the moment of truth arrived. We performed a baseline run to verify smooth idle and proper boost response. The initial impression is promising—supercharger whine is subtle at low revs, but the surge of torque once the revs climb is unmistakable. The 3UZ, known for its silky smoothness, now gains a muscular punch that transforms the GS’s character.

The custom tune, developed by All4Swap, is designed to work within the stock ECU’s parameters while optimizing fuel and spark for forced induction. After a few prudent drive cycles to gather data, the real test begins: a full-throttle pull to feel the full extent of the supercharger’s potential. Every component in this build is a delicate balance between reliability and performance, and so far, the GS is proving to be an exceptional canvas for this kind of modification.
