Nio ES8 Crosses 10,000 Deliveries Again in September as Flagship SUV Tightens Grip on Brand Sales

Nio kept its flagship battery-electric SUV in high gear last month. The third-generation ES8 rolled out to 10,542 customers in September, according to company figures, marking a third straight month above the 10,000-unit mark and confirming the model as the strongest single pillar of the automaker’s lineup.

September’s tally slipped a modest 4.17 percent against August, when the model notched a revised 11,001 deliveries, yet it towered over the same month a year earlier — a stretch that was distorted by a generation handover, with only 2,812 ES8s delivered as the previous model wound down and the new one ramped up.

The ES8 made up 49.45 percent of Nio brand volume in September and 28.18 percent of the wider group’s 37,408 deliveries. For the first nine months of the year, the SUV claimed 60.71 percent of Nio brand sales and 36.79 percent of the company total, underlining how heavily the group still leans on this one nameplate. Through September, year-to-date ES8 deliveries reached 110,490.

Third-quarter ES8 deliveries totaled 31,831, a 4.91 percent dip from the prior quarter, representing 29.16 percent of the group’s 109,178 vehicles in the period. The current ES8 launched on September 20 last year and crossed 150,000 cumulative deliveries on its first anniversary. Nio has since widened the appeal with a five-seat variant that joined the range in July, priced from 382,800 yuan with the battery included — 5.9 percent under the three-row version at launch — or 274,800 yuan under the battery-as-a-service rental plan.
