Luxeed refreshes R7 coupe SUV with lower price and up to 855 km of range

Luxeed, the EV marque created through the Huawei-Chery partnership, has rolled out an updated R7 coupe SUV in China with a starting price of 239,800 yuan (about $35,580), trimming 20,000 yuan off the previous entry point. The lineup spans four trims: Max, Max+, Max+ Long Range and Ultra, topping out at 319,800 yuan. Buyers ordering now can also tap two years of interest-free financing and limited-time perks valued at as much as 44,500 yuan.

According to Luxeed, roughly 500 million yuan went into this mid-cycle refresh, which brings eight upgrades touching exterior design, cabin layout, chassis tuning and driver-assistance hardware. The battery-electric R7 rides on Huawei’s Giant Whale 800 V high-voltage platform, with a single rear motor now producing up to 227 kW and a CLTC range figure reaching 855 km. The extended-range variant keeps its existing powertrain, receiving only light chassis and power-delivery recalibration.

On the technology side, the updated R7 carries Huawei’s ADS 5 system paired with an 896-channel dual-optical-path imaging-grade LiDAR, while in-cabin LiDAR is offered as an option on select variants. The exterior keeps its full-width light bars but swaps flush door handles for semi-flush units, and adds Titanium Silver and Star Rose Pink to the color palette. Measuring 4,982 mm long, 1,981 mm wide and 2,950 mm between the axles, the SUV also introduces a 17.2-inch butterfly-wing dual-screen with 3.4K resolution — a first for the HIMA family — alongside a 26-inch head-up display, a D-shaped steering wheel and a standard Huawei Sound audio system.

The R7 refresh arrives alongside the newly launched RX electric SUV and the Stelato V8 MPV at a HIMA product event, underscoring how quickly the Huawei-backed brand is expanding its catalog and how short its model cycles have become — the R7 itself was last updated only about six months ago.
