Lucid's UX 3.0 Brings a Big Air Update — and a $950 Bill for Some Owners

Lucid has rolled out UX 3.0 for the Air sedan, a comprehensive overhaul of the car’s infotainment system aimed at bringing it up to speed with the newer Gravity SUV. For owners of 2025 and later Air models, the new software lands over the air as version 2.11.0 at no extra cost and without any hardware swap.

Earlier adopters aren’t so lucky. Airs from 2022, 2023, and certain 2024 builds require a processor replacement to run the new system, a retrofit Lucid prices at $950 including installation in the U.S. Pricing for other regions is still to be announced. A company spokesperson explained that only a portion of 2024 cars are affected, since Lucid switched to its second-generation infotainment processor mid-way through that model year.

On the software side, UX 3.0 reshapes the home screen around swipeable cards for frequently used features, which can be pushed onto the vertical Pilot Panel to launch the full app. A pull-down gesture from the top of that panel opens a set of quick controls. The most substantial fix finally decouples the upper Cockpit display from the lower Pilot Panel, allowing different content on each screen — navigation above, media below, for instance.

Lucid also says route planning now factors in charging network preferences, expected arrival range, and adapter compatibility, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto should be more stable and render larger on the crescent-shaped display. For loyal early buyers who already paid a premium, the question is whether smoother multitasking justifies another $950.
