Lemmo 3 Cargo E-Bike Debuts Semi-Solid State Battery Tech

German e-bike manufacturer Lemmo has introduced its first cargo model, the Lemmo 3, a longtail step-through design that stands out as one of the earliest electric bikes to adopt semi-solid state battery chemistry. The gel-based electrolyte in these cells is significantly more resistant to thermal runaway than conventional lithium-ion packs, meaning the risk of fire during overnight charging or after a crash puncture is substantially reduced.

The removable 960Wh battery delivers a claimed range of up to 180 kilometers (110 miles). According to Lemmo, the semi-solid state design cuts battery size and weight by roughly 20 percent while extending its lifespan by about 30 percent. When the ride is done, the pack can double as a portable power source, feeding AC appliances up to 1000W and USB-C gadgets up to 66W through an optional discharge inverter sold separately.

Built to haul, the Lemmo 3 carries a total load of 200kg, with 80kg on the rear rack and 20kg up front. It uses the MIK HD accessory standard rather than a proprietary mount, so a wide range of child seats, bags, and boxes fit directly. A quick-adjust saddle and handlebar accommodate riders from 155cm to 195cm, and the bike rolls on a 24-inch front wheel paired with a 20-inch rear.

Power comes from a rear-hub motor rated at 750W in the US, 500W in Canada, and 250W for Europe, producing up to 90Nm of torque. An adaptive AI system combines sensor data from the motor and electronic derailleur to pick the optimal gear in real time, while a 3-speed auto-shifting gearbox with belt drive is available for flatter terrain. Other equipment includes integrated lighting with turn signals and brake lights, a 3.5-inch touchscreen, USB-C phone charging, OTA updates, rear radar, and hydraulic brakes that engage both wheels from a single lever. Security features cover frame and battery locks plus GPS/LTE tracking.

A Kickstarter teaser page is live for the EU, UK, US, and Canada, with a refundable €39.90 deposit reserving tax-exclusive pricing of €1,890 (about 2,155).Lemmosaysretailpricingwilleventuallyexceed€3,390(over2,155). Lemmo says retail pricing will eventually exceed €3,390 (over 3,800), with first deliveries targeted for April 2027.
