Lectric Unveils the XPress Lite: A Lighter, Cheaper Take on Its Beloved City E-Bike

Lectric has introduced the XPress Lite, a leaner and more wallet-friendly sibling to its well-received XPress2 commuter model. Priced at $1,099, the new arrival trims the formula down to a more portable, agile machine built for everyday urban riding rather than heavy-duty performance. It slots into a growing family of affordable electric bikes from a brand that has steadily pushed beyond its folding fat-tire roots into nearly every corner of the budget e-bike space.
Weighing in at 45.6 pounds (20.7 kg) with the battery out, the XPress Lite sits near the lighter end of Lectric’s range—a meaningful advantage for anyone who has to hoist a bike into a car trunk or lug it up apartment stairs. A 500W nominal rear hub motor, peaking at 864W and delivering just over 61 Nm of torque, pairs with an eight-speed Shimano Altus drivetrain. The standout detail at this price point is Lectric’s in-house torque sensor, joined by the company’s XPerience Switch, which lets riders toggle between torque-sensor and cadence-sensor behavior.
That flexibility matters. A torque sensor mimics the natural feel of a conventional bicycle, while cadence sensing delivers easier, more relaxed assistance—useful for riders who want motor support without pushing hard on the pedals. The bike can be set up for Class 1, 2, or 3 operation where local rules allow, and it offers five pedal-assist levels plus a paddle-style thumb throttle mounted beneath the bar. Stopping power comes from hydraulic disc brakes, and the 27.5 x 1.95-inch street-oriented tires arrive pre-treated with Slime sealant to head off flats. A 3.5-inch color TFT display and an integrated rear light with brake and turn-signal functions round out the package.
The main trade-off is battery size: a 7.8 Ah pack with 375 Wh of capacity, rated for up to 45 miles (72 km) on pedal assist, though real-world range will vary with assist level, terrain, rider weight, and speed. Both the bike and its battery carry UL certifications. Lectric offers the model in four colors—Toasted Marshmallow, Pine Green, Glacier White, and Stratus White—all on the same mid-step frame that balances rigidity with easy mounting. A long accessory list includes racks, fenders, panniers, a suspension seatpost, comfort saddle, mirrors, and a phone mount.
The XPress Lite reflects a broader strategy: rather than simply making its original bike pricier and more complex each year, Lectric keeps branching outward at approachable prices, from cargo bikes and trikes to lightweight folders. Not every rider needs a monster motor or a 70-pound machine—sometimes shaving weight and cost is as valuable as adding power.
