Kandi's Battery Swap Arm Books Another Heavy-Truck Station Order from CATL

Kandi Technologies’ battery exchange subsidiary has landed a second batch order for heavy-truck battery swap stations from Qiji Energy, the CATL-affiliated unit running the battery giant’s truck swapping programme. The follow-up comes roughly two months after the initial batch, suggesting momentum is building behind the collaboration.

The two companies are working under a three-year agreement signed in January 2026 that named China Battery Exchange a designated supplier to Qiji’s heavy-truck swapping effort. Their relationship stretches back further: a framework contract in August 2025 brought the subsidiary into CATL’s global supplier network. Financial terms and station counts for the latest order were not made public, so the deal’s true scale remains opaque.

Manufacturing is already underway, with production having kicked off in July 2026 at the subsidiary’s Lin’an plant. That facility is rated to turn out as many as 200 swap stations annually. How much of that capacity gets used depends heavily on how aggressively CATL rolls out swapping infrastructure across China’s freight corridors, a segment that is still in the early stages of commercialisation.

Kandi CEO Feng Chen framed the repeat order as a vote of confidence, saying the two batches received within eight months of the Qiji agreement signal both CATL’s trust in the company’s products and delivery record and the commercial promise of the tie-up. He added that Kandi intends to keep pushing product development, production capacity and delivery efficiency as it looks to make battery swap equipment a new growth driver.
