Jetta Kicks Off M6 Pre-Sales in China, Its First EV Starts Near $12,000

Volkswagen’s budget-oriented Jetta marque has begun taking orders for the M6, its inaugural battery-electric sedan, ahead of a full market debut set for the middle of October. Pricing for the Chinese-market model spans 80,800 to 99,800 yuan, which works out to roughly $11,990 at current exchange rates.

Three trim levels are on offer, badged 465 Pro, 555 Max and 555 Ultra; the leading figures correspond to CLTC-rated range in kilometers. Underneath, the M6 rides on Jetta’s own Jiesi architecture, a dedicated EV platform that pairs a single front-mounted motor with front-wheel drive. Buyers can pick between two power outputs, 113 kW and 145 kW, while CALB supplies the battery packs.

At 4,806 mm long and 2,820 mm between the axles, the sedan slots into the mid-size bracket. Inside, a digital gauge cluster joins a 15.6-inch 2.5K central display, with three interior themes and six exterior paint options available. Driver assistance leans on Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6M chip and a camera-only sensor setup, enabling highway and urban NOA functions.

To sweeten the early-order period, Jetta is dangling perks valued at about 11,000 yuan, among them a deposit-matching offer, a limited color-change wrap capped at 600 cars, and a choice between a home wallbox or a combined charging and discharging cable. The launch forms part of a broader push that has already seen FAW-Volkswagen hand the brand its own Chengdu-based corporate entity, plus a five-model roadmap through 2028 with four NEVs and a longer-term goal of 400,000 to 500,000 annual sales.
