Huawei's HIMA Alliance Posts Fourth Straight Monthly Sales Drop in September

Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) moved 37,490 vehicles in September, continuing a concerning trend of year-on-year contractions that has now stretched to four consecutive months. The figure represents a 29.15% dip compared to the same period last year and a 10.95% slide from August, marking the third straight month of sequential declines for the group.
On a cumulative basis, HIMA’s performance through the first nine months of 2026 remains slightly ahead of last year’s pace at 367,229 units, though growth has decelerated significantly to 5.27%—down sharply from the 11.42% increase recorded through August. Since its inception, the alliance has delivered more than 1.56 million vehicles.
September proved to be an active month for product launches, with HIMA unveiling or opening pre-orders for the refreshed Luxeed R7, Stelato V8, Luxeed RX, and updated Aito M8. However, these introductions coincided with a strategic restructuring of the partnership between Huawei and Seres concerning the Aito brand. Announced on September 15, the revised arrangement places Seres in a lead role for Aito’s operations, with Huawei transitioning to a supporting position across product definition, design, marketing, retail, and services.
Chinese media reports suggest further discussions are underway between the two companies regarding their collaboration model, potentially deepening their cooperation beyond the current framework. Aito’s recently updated M8 SUV, which began pre-sales on September 30 at a starting price of 389,800 yuan, remains a pivotal model for the brand despite recent monthly sales softness.
