Grok Bot Adds Banking Features as Tesla Owners Get In-Car AI Assistant

Elon Musk’s AI assistant Grok is moving beyond conversation and into personal finance. A new Finance integration for the Grok Bot agent platform now allows users to connect bank, credit card and investment accounts, giving the assistant the ability to help track spending and manage investments. Musk promoted the rollout on X, stating simply that Grok Bot can manage your finances.

The financial capabilities did not arrive overnight. Grok first gained the ability to answer questions about spending, savings, investments and cash flow in early September through accounts linked via Plaid, initially for users in the United States. Weeks earlier, on August 28, the bot was given the power to make online purchases through Link, with each transaction requiring user approval and a single-use card issued for every payment.

Musk has publicly encouraged users to test the limits of the system. When a Tesla investor account raised the question of granting Grok Bot access to personal bank accounts, Musk responded by urging them to try it and promising to make users whole if the bot made mistakes. That pledge goes further than the platform’s standard consumer terms, which place responsibility for an agent’s actions on the user and generally limit the company’s liability to the greater of fees paid or $100. The platform’s own documentation advises requiring approval for purchases and financial transfers.

For Tesla drivers, the finance feature arrives shortly after Grok Bot was integrated into the company’s vehicles, allowing drivers to delegate tasks by voice while FSD (Supervised) manages driving. In-car bot access is currently restricted to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, though Connectors remain available to anyone signed into Grok. With Finance linked, a driver could request a spending summary or check upcoming bills during a commute. Grok’s presence in Tesla vehicles has expanded steadily since a summer update gave it voice control over cabin features.
