Geely Xingyuan and BYD Qin L DM-i Flagged in China Quality Inspection Over Conformity Issues

China’s latest quality review has put two popular electric and hybrid models under the spotlight. The Geely Xingyuan, a compact EV, and the BYD Qin L DM-i, a plug-in hybrid, were both cited for production conformity deviations in a recent inspection.

According to the report, the Xingyuan’s measured wheelbase exceeded the allowed 1% tolerance, which could impact vehicle stability and handling. On the other hand, the Qin L DM-i’s fuel consumption came in higher than its official declared figure, raising questions about real-world efficiency.

These findings highlight the ongoing scrutiny of manufacturing precision and emissions claims in China’s rapidly growing new energy vehicle sector. Both companies have yet to issue formal responses, but the review underscores the importance of stricter quality control as competition intensifies.
