Engine Technology Forum Backs House Committee's Move to Renew Diesel Emissions Reduction Act

The Engine Technology Forum has voiced its support for the House Energy and Commerce Committee after the panel advanced a reauthorization of the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act. The group, which advocates for cleaner internal combustion and advanced engine technologies, framed the committee’s action as an important step for continuing programs aimed at cutting emissions from older diesel engines.

The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act has funded retrofits and replacements of legacy diesel equipment across fleets, helping reduce particulate matter and nitrogen oxide output without forcing an immediate switch away from diesel platforms. Reauthorization would keep that funding pipeline alive for another cycle.

The Forum’s praise signals continued industry interest in upgrading existing diesel technology rather than abandoning it, a position that puts it at odds with stricter electrification-only policy pushes.
