Daimler Delays Hydrogen Truck Series Production to Early 2030s

Daimler Truck has pushed back its plans for series production of hydrogen trucks to the early 2030s. The company had previously aimed to start manufacturing hydrogen fuel cell trucks by the late 2020s, but has now adjusted its timeline due to market conditions and infrastructure challenges.

The delay reflects broader uncertainties in the hydrogen fuel cell truck sector, including the slow build-out of refueling stations and high costs. Daimler had showcased its GenH2 truck concept, but the path to commercialization appears longer than initially expected.

Industry analysts note that battery electric trucks are gaining momentum faster, leaving hydrogen as a longer-term option. Daimler’s revised schedule suggests that hydrogen may not play a major role in heavy-duty transport until the next decade.
