Circle K Taps FLEXeCHARGE to Handle Load Management at 1,000 European Charging Points

Charging and fuel station operator Circle K has signed a deal with Danish software company FLEXeCHARGE to bring cloud-based load management to roughly 1,000 charging points spread across multiple European markets. For FLEXeCHARGE, the order stands out as one of its biggest CPO-sector wins so far and marks the first wide-scale rollout of its HARMON-E product in a headless configuration.

That headless approach is aimed at large charge point operators that already run sophisticated in-house platforms and prefer to fold specialised energy-management functions straight into their own technology rather than bolt on a separate operating system. Circle K is not replacing its existing setup — it is swapping out one supplier for a clearly defined slice of its energy-management stack, namely load management.

With HARMON-E running quietly in the background, Circle K keeps its familiar dashboards, workflows and user experience, pulling in the relevant data and features through APIs. Hallgeir Horne, Senior Manager Charging Infrastructure at Circle K, said the company wanted a load-management partner that could slot into its existing environment instead of adding yet another interface, letting it scale with FLEXeCHARGE while keeping day-to-day operations inside its own systems.

The move sits against a backdrop of steady European expansion. Circle K belongs to Canadian retail and fuel group Alimentation Couche-Tard, which runs close to 17,300 locations in 27 countries and regions. In Europe it operates across Scandinavia, the Baltics, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Poland, and in 2023 it took over TotalEnergies’ fuel station network in Germany and the Netherlands, adding charging points afterwards. The company reached 100 fast-charging sites in Germany in June, says it is the preferred charging provider in Sweden with more than 1,000 points, and reported a European charging network of over 4,400 points at last count.
