Chevy Equinox EV Sees 92% Q3 Sales Drop as Cadillac EVs Move to the Front

General Motors’ electric lineup stumbled badly in the third quarter, and the Chevy Equinox EV — which had been the automaker’s best-selling battery model — was hit hardest. Just 1,905 Equinox EVs were delivered last quarter, a 92% collapse from the more than 25,000 units moved in Q3 2025.

The retreat wasn’t isolated. Chevy Blazer EV volume fell 84% to 5,199, Silverado EV landed at 1,655 (down 58%), and only the freshly launched Bolt added meaningful numbers with 3,866 deliveries. GMC’s electric offerings also slipped, with Hummer EV dropping 73% to 1,423 and Sierra EV falling roughly 51% to 1,661.

What stands out is Cadillac. The luxury brand’s electric SUVs now account for nearly half of GM’s total EV sales, despite declines of their own: 3,617 Lyriqs, 4,550 Optiqs, 2,587 Vistiqs, and 1,604 Escalade IQ/IQL models. Even at reduced volumes, Cadillac has quietly become the center of gravity for GM’s EV business.

The broader context matters here. GM attributed its 6% overall US sales decline to a “much smaller EV market,” a reality shaped in part by the expiration of the $7,500 federal tax credit. Reuters also reported that GM now intends to build roughly 75% fewer new Bolts than originally planned — about 35,000 units before production wraps in early 2027. With cheaper rivals like the Toyota bZ and Kia EV3 gaining traction, GM’s EV momentum is under real pressure.
