BYD Sharpens the Atto 3 Evo: Faster Charging, RWD Thrills and a Fresh Cabin
BYD has lifted the lid on the Atto 3 Evo, the refreshed take on the electric SUV that first introduced Australian buyers to the brand. Pricing opens at 46,990 before on-roads.
The Dynamic sticks with a 60.48 kWh BYD Blade Battery and a 400 V architecture, delivering up to 420 km of range and a modest lift in DC charging to 110 kW, which translates to a 10-80% top-up in 41 minutes. The Premium is the headline act: an 800 V setup, a larger 74.88 kWh pack and 510 km of WLTP range, paired with a rear-mounted 230 kW motor churning out 380 Nm. That combination trims the 0-100 km/h run to 5.5 seconds, down from 7.3 seconds before, and supports DC charging at up to 220 kW for a 10-80% charge in just 25 minutes. AC charging also climbs to 11 kW on this version, versus 7 kW on the Dynamic.
Both variants bring 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load output, and the cabin has been reworked with a jump in boot space from 434 to 490 litres with the rear seats in place, expanding to 1,360 litres when folded. The driver’s display grows from 5 to 8.8 inches, wireless phone charging leaps from 15 W to 50 W, and there are redesigned door panels, multi-colour ambient lighting, split headrests and a sunglasses holder.
Outside, the Evo is recognisably an Atto 3, though it picks up new tail lights integrated into the rear spoiler and fresh wheels. Warranty coverage runs 6 years/150,000 km for the vehicle, 8 years/160,000 km for the high-voltage battery and 8 years/150,000 km for the drive unit, with the first service pegged at $190 at the 1-year or 20,000 km mark.
