BYD Recalls 183,000 EVs in China Due to Brake Pedal Defect; Nio Also Issues Recall

BYD has initiated a recall of 183,211 electric vehicles from its Qin and Tang series in China. The issue stems from a defective component in the brake pedal that could cause the brake lights to stay on continuously. While this may seem minor, it poses a safety risk as it can confuse other drivers and potentially lead to accidents.

In a separate recall, Nio is addressing a problem with the power steering in several hundred of its Firefly models. The company will retrofit the affected vehicles to fix the issue. Both recalls highlight the challenges automakers face in maintaining quality control as they scale up electric vehicle production.
