Bentley Puts Biofuel to the Ultimate Test at Pike's Peak

Bentley is taking an unexpected route to prove the viability of renewable fuels: by tackling the grueling Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with a biofuel-powered Continental GT. The luxury automaker aims to demonstrate that sustainable fuels can deliver the performance and reliability demanded by high-performance driving, even in extreme conditions.

The biofuel used is a second-generation renewable fuel, produced from agricultural waste and other biological materials. It meets the same quality standards as conventional gasoline and can be used without any engine modifications, offering a drop-in solution to reduce carbon emissions from existing combustion-engine vehicles. Bentley’s test at Pikes Peak, a 12.42-mile course with 156 turns and a finish line at over 14,000 feet, pushes the fuel to its limits, validating its potential for both motorsport and everyday driving.

This initiative aligns with Bentley’s broader strategy to embrace sustainability while preserving its heritage of performance and luxury. By showcasing biofuel’s capabilities in such a demanding environment, Bentley hopes to accelerate the adoption of renewable fuels as a complementary pathway to electrification, particularly for enthusiasts and regions where EV infrastructure is still developing.
