Battery Makers Rethink Lithium Retrofits for Legacy EVs

The humble golf cart is becoming an unlikely testbed for a new approach to electrifying industrial vehicles. Battery manufacturers are now producing lithium-ion packs that drop directly into older electric golf carts, forklifts, and other equipment, eliminating the need for costly modifications or outright replacements. This ‘drop-in’ strategy aims to tap into the massive installed base of lead-acid-powered machines that are still in service.
