Automaker Stocks Slide as Rotation Trade Unwinds: GM and Stellantis Drop 4%, Ford Retreats

Shares of major automakers gave back recent gains on Monday as a rotation trade that had favored the sector began to unwind, with General Motors and Stellantis each falling about 4% while Ford also pulled back.

The move marks a reversal for Detroit’s legacy carmakers, which had drawn renewed investor attention in prior sessions. The pullback came as broader market positioning shifted away from the value-oriented names that had benefited from the rotation.

GM and Stellantis both logged declines of roughly 4% during the session, according to the report, while Ford’s shares also moved lower though by a smaller margin. The three companies had been among the beneficiaries of a trade that rotated capital toward traditional industrial and automotive stocks.
