Aiva in Talks with CATL for Battery Swap Integration

Aiva, an electric vehicle startup backed by Seres, is reportedly in discussions with CATL to adopt the battery giant’s swap technology. The collaboration would see Aiva’s vehicles join CATL’s expanding network of battery swap stations, a move that could enhance charging convenience for users.

The company’s first production model, the ME7, is expected to make its debut by the end of 2026. While specific technical details of the potential partnership remain undisclosed, the talks signal a growing trend among smaller EV makers to leverage established infrastructure providers rather than building proprietary swapping systems.

Battery swapping offers a faster alternative to conventional charging, particularly for urban drivers. If the deal materializes, Aiva would gain access to CATL’s extensive network, potentially boosting its competitiveness in the crowded Chinese EV market.
