Acura Charts Expansion: Larger SUV, Off-Roader and Hybrid Push Ahead

Acura is readying a broader product offensive that will add a larger SUV, an off-road-focused model and a new family of hybrid powertrains. The plan, reported by WardsAuto, signals that Honda’s premium brand intends to stretch its lineup into bigger and more diverse segments rather than relying solely on its current crossover range.
The centerpiece is an eight-passenger SUV, a move that would give Acura a true family-hauler for the first time in years. That vehicle is expected to sit above the existing MDX in size and price, putting Acura in direct conversation with large premium three-row utilities. The brand is also preparing an off-road-oriented model, a clear response to the growing appetite for rugged, trail-ready SUVs across the luxury market.
On the powertrain side, Acura will introduce a new generation of hybrids, including a V-6 hybrid system. That combination suggests the brand is not abandoning larger-displacement engines entirely as it electrifies; instead, it is pairing them with hybrid assistance to improve efficiency while preserving the performance character that defines Acura’s positioning.
The product push comes as luxury automakers broadly reassess their electrification timelines. While full battery-electric models remain part of long-term plans, hybrids have regained favor as a bridge technology that meets tightening emissions rules without asking buyers to make a full leap to charging. For Acura, a V-6 hybrid could serve double duty: satisfying regulatory pressure and appealing to existing customers who still value six-cylinder refinement.
Acura has not yet confirmed timing, pricing or specific nameplates for these vehicles, and it remains unclear how the new models will be badged or which platforms they will ride on. What is clear is that the brand sees room to grow above and beyond its current showroom offerings, betting that a wider mix of body styles and electrified drivetrains will bring new buyers into the fold.
