Some classics fade away quietly in garages, while others end up parked among rows of discarded metal. A 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 four-speed has been spotted in exactly that kind of setting, according to a report from Barn Finds.

On paper, this Chevelle was ordered with a serious equipment list: the SS package, a 396 V8, a four-speed manual, Positraction, power steering, air conditioning, bucket seats and a center console. That combination made it a genuinely desirable machine when new.

Photographs suggest the car still carries a look that would catch an enthusiast’s eye, which makes its current surroundings all the more surprising. Even so, a junkyard setting says little on its own about what condition the car is really in underneath.

For now, the discovery serves as a reminder of how many well-optioned American muscle cars slipped out of circulation and into places nobody expects to find them.
