2027 Ford F-150 Adds Hands-Free Towing to BlueCruise

Ford’s 2027 F-150 will let drivers travel hands-free even while pulling a trailer, thanks to an expansion of its BlueCruise driver-assistance system. The feature is designed to ease the workload on long highway hauls, though it comes with a set of conditions that keep the driver responsible at all times.

BlueCruise remains a hands-on-when-needed system: it only works on pre-mapped divided highways, and drivers must stay alert and ready to take over. With a trailer attached, the system’s operating window is narrower than in normal driving, so it won’t be usable in every towing scenario.

Ford is positioning the update as a practical aid for truck owners who log heavy miles with a trailer in tow, rather than a step toward full autonomy. The company has not indicated that the system changes its fundamental requirement for an engaged driver.
