2027 Chrysler Pacifica Refreshed in New York as the Plug-In Hybrid Bows Out

Stellantis pulled the wraps off the updated 2027 Chrysler Pacifica at the New York International Auto Show, signaling that the brand still believes in the family minivan even as the broader market tilts toward crossovers and SUVs. The refresh brings revised styling, updated cabin materials and a reorganized tech offering, but it also marks a notable turning point: the Pacifica Hybrid, the first mass-market plug-in minivan sold in the United States, has been discontinued for 2027.

That decision reflects a wider recalibration at Stellantis, which is rethinking the pace and shape of its electrification roadmap much as other automakers have done recently. The Pacifica Hybrid mattered because it let families sample electric driving without worrying about range, and it showed that plug-in hardware could slot into a practical people mover without forcing compromises. Chrysler’s interest in electrified minivans is not new, either — the company built electric minivan concepts in the 1990s and ran plug-in hybrid prototypes in fleet testing through the 2000s and early 2010s.

The minivan itself is a Chrysler creation story that stretches back to the 1984 Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager, the vehicles that effectively retired the station wagon from family duty. What set those early vans apart was unibody construction, borrowed from passenger cars, which delivered a smoother ride than the body-on-frame full-size vans and Jeep Wagoneer of the era. Add a sliding side door and the ability to walk from the front seats to the second and third rows while moving, and the formula proved irresistible to parents. Later generations added dual sliding doors, Stow ‘n Go seating that folds the second and third rows into floor bins, and steady gains in safety and connectivity.

For 2027, Select, Limited and Pinnacle trims adopt a sharper front fascia with vertical LED headlamps, an illuminated grille using signature “piano key” lighting and a new Chrysler wing logo. Fresh paint colors and wheel designs round out the exterior changes. Inside, buyers get new materials and accents, with the Pinnacle offering an exclusive Blue Agave Nappa leather interior with Copper Alloy trim and a Parquet perforation pattern, plus a Satin Chrome wing badge on the steering wheel. The Uconnect Theater Package is now sold separately from the Family Tech Group so shoppers can configure rear-seat entertainment independently; the Tech Group bundles Uconnect 5 NAV, extra power outlets, upgraded audio and the FamCAM interior camera, while the Theater Group centers on Amazon Fire TV and seatback screens.

Mechanically, the Pacifica carries over the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and nine-speed automatic, a pairing known for smooth, confident everyday performance. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available on upper trims. A new LX trim, replacing the Voyager nameplate, opens the range at $41,495 with power sliding doors, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as standard equipment.
